I quit my "design job." It was just something that I needed out of - And I've learned some important things in the aftermath. Meanwhile, I've got another design gig AND I got my creativity back.

So that's a VERY good thing.

what's up lately

Journal Entry: Tue May 20, 2008, 11:47 AM
I'm working two jobs this summer (60-70 hours/week) so I can buy my condo in the fall. I can't talk much about my "first" job since most of the stuff is all hush-hush on my end... it's pretty cool though. I get to set my own hours at least.

My second job is at the university. They're paying me an unholy amount of money to babysit the office this summer and then do all the advertising for the CUR meeting in 2010.

And I've been picking up a few freelance projects.

And I'm working in the print lab... un paid.... doing some prints...

That is, as soon as I pay the danged fee. But right now, if I DO draw or do anything "extra," I'm usually way too lazy or tired to scan and post it. Bad steph!

Oh and I've been driving around a lot too.... that's important in the summer.

and... we're back

wow, what a break... my box is overflowing with things to look at! I haven't been around for good reason - job hunting... But guess what. I got one! I'll be working with a couple of photographers. It was kind of a big chance and I turned down a "safe" job for it, but I'm really excited! I get to start today.

Hopefully look for new stuff soon! I know I still owe people a couple of things!

graduation, mental retardation

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 17, 2007, 10:51 AM
Holy cow! So I don't really FEEL graduated since I didn't go to the University Commencement.... my family couldn't make it and so I saw no point in it. Actually I saw no point in it anyway - I'll go to the college graduation in the Spring.

But I'm DONE! It feels a bit unreal. Especially since I'm still working on campus (still doing the job search thing...) while I finish up the museum and help the OUR get ready for the Spring Symposium. Crazy! But other than that... I'm amazed that I don't have more free time YET, but I suppose that's all the holiday stuff I have to do. And it's nice that I can fill up my Saturdays without worrying about when I'm going to do my homework. Last Saturday I spent the entire day with friends as we made a quilt for a super dear friend who has been ill. I felt a lot less stressed at the end of the day knowing that I had NOTHING due on Monday. :w00t:

So for now I'm doing logos and print stuff on the side for CHEAP through the end of the year - for anyone interested. Maybe a little work will lead to more work.

And I SHOULD have more time (and a desire) to draw.... hahahaha

go with the flow

Things seem to be evening out. I cut the non-necessities out and all of the sudden things smoothed out a LOT. Not that I've got much art up because of it though. I'm working on a sculpture piece in ceramics and I've got a wood piece that I need to refinish and POSSIBLY build a bigger, clock-like, model of. That'd be pretty groovy if I could get that sold off to a furniture maker. I think I have a contact for one.

I DO need to draw more though. This artist's block just isn't letting up and I don't know if it will before the end of the semester. You'd think that 6 credits would be easier, but apparently it's as much work as 12! =P

Or maybe it's just life?
